New group posts first-ever list of alleged Protestant sexual abusers

It’s based on court records, news accounts, articles & government records

More than 2,700 clergy, in 100+ denominations, with photos, are put online

Database also includes ‘those who suspected or knew of abuse & kept silent’

Victims seek to ‘protect the vulnerable, expose the wrongdoers & deter coverups’

WHAT

In an online news conference, to prevent sexual misdeeds, clergy sex abuse survivors and an expert will announce the posting of thousands of names of convicted, admitted, suspended, defrocked &/or publicly accused Protestant pastors and other church workers who have allegedly ‘violated, molested or sexually exploited vulnerable adults and children’

WHEN/WHERE

Wednesday, Aug. 19 at 11:00 a.m. Eastern

WHO

Two women who were exploited and abused as adults by separate Protestant clergymen and a man who is a veteran archivist & expert in clergy abuse:

–a Florida woman, who was manipulated and sexually abused by her boss and pastor, and who spearheaded this new group ProtestantAccountability.org,

https://roysreport.com/survivor-wins-settlement-against-florida-megachurch-goes-public-with-story

–an Oklahoma woman who was sexually and psychologically abused by a pastor, and

–a Massachusetts man who co-directs BishopAccountability.org (an online archive focused on Catholic abuse/cover up) which lists 8,000 alleged clergy predators.

WHY

In a “first,” hoping to “protect the vulnerable, expose the wrongdoers and heal the wounded,” a small new group called ProtestantAccountability.org will unveil and explain the detailed list of 2,700+ publicly accused abusive Protestant-based institutional workers that the organization has compiled posted and will continue updating online.

Some of the accused abusers’ names can also be found at StopBaptistPredators.org, in reports by several state attorneys general, in media accounts and at BishopAccoutability.org (a similar site listing alleged Catholic abusers).

A dozen or more of the accused Protestant predators were initially or later became Catholic church employees.

In addition to pastors, the new list includes other workers at Protestant churches and institutions (teachers, organists, camp counselors, etc.).

ProtestantAccountability.org is a Florida-based non-profit. It welcomes submissions of other names of accused clergy. The group is run by volunteers who are all survivors of some kind of clergy abuse.

(NOTE: ProtestantAccountability and BishopAccountability are two separate – though similar – groups. Neither endorses every fact/accused name on each other’s sites.)
