A former Montreal priest convicted of sexually abusing teenagers has been arrested again for allegedly possessing child sexual abuse and exploitation material while living in a halfway house, CTV News has confirmed.
Brian Boucher, 64, is serving the remainder of his eight-year sentence in the community under several conditions after being found guilty in 2019.
He was convicted on charges of sexual interference and invitation to sexual touching for events in Montreal that took place between 1995 and 1999, as well as between 2008 and 2011, involving two teenage boys when he was their Catholic priest.
According to court records, Boucher appeared in court at the beginning of August to face two counts of possessing child sexual abuse and exploitation material — which was formally known as possession of child pornography — in April 2026.
At the time of the alleged offence, he was living at a community correctional centre while out on statutory release under supervision.
A bail hearing for the new charges is scheduled for next Tuesday at the Montreal courthouse.
The Parole Board of Canada (PBC) granted Boucher statutory release in July 2024, but his release conditions were tightened after the family of one of his victims, who is now an adult, reported “several” incidents in which Boucher attended a location when they were present, making them uncomfortable, and making eye contact with them, according to a PBC decision issued last December.

The Parole Board decision added that victims are entitled to peace of mind and to attend those locations without fear of being disturbed by their abuser.
As a result, the Parole Board banned him from being within a specific section of Montreal’s Côte-des-Neiges-Notre-Dame-de-Grace borough and a section of the Town of Mount-Royal, except for medical reasons.
Last year, Boucher was acquitted of charges of sexual assault, voyeurism, and criminal harassment against another inmate in the prison where he was serving his eight-year sentence.
He was later served with a recognizance order to keep the peace and was banned from communicating or being in the presence of the inmate.
