A former Wiregrass-area worship pastor has been arrested in Tennessee on multiple felony sex-related charges, according to jail records.
Joshua Landon Wilhoit, 43, was booked into the Jefferson County Jail in Dandridge, Tennessee, on Thursday morning. Jail logs indicate Wilhoit faces five sex-related charges, including rape and sexual battery. He remained in custody as of Friday morning.
Before moving to Tennessee, Wilhoit served as a worship and music pastor at several churches in southeast Alabama. His local ministry career included leading music at two Baptist churches in Dothan and serving at two other churches in neighboring Dale County.
Most recently, Wilhoit pastored a church in the Knoxville area, though he was removed from the church’s website months ago.
Online Tennessee court records did not immediately show additional details regarding the specific allegations or circumstances leading to his arrest. It was also not immediately clear if Wilhoit had retained an attorney to speak on his behalf.
