Fr. Joseph S. Amato
Assigned to parishes in Glens Falls, Troy, Cohoes, and Schenectady. High school teacher; St. Vincent’s Home chaplain; diocesan Tribunal auditor and pro-synodal judge. Retired in 1996, then worked as a consultant for the Diocese of Venice, FL. Died in FL 11/16/2016. Amato was accused, along with Bishop Howard Hubbard, in a lawsuit filed 10/3/2019 of sexually abusing at boy 1976-1978 while assigned to St. Michael the Archangel in Troy. The suit names Joseph “Mato”; the Catholic Directories show a Rev. Joseph Amato as at the parish during the time in question.
