Charged in late 1993 with raping a 20-year-old man who came to him for counseling. Acquitted in 10/94 on a rape charge and a mistrial was declared on a charge of indecent assault. Defense claimed that the alleged victim had consented to oral sex after a night of drinking at the rectory. Prosecutors said the victim was too drunk to consent. Ares died in 1998. Name included on Boston’s list of accused priests in 2002.
