Fr. Sydney H. Bayers
Diocese: Archdiocese of Boston MA
In 1994, three sisters complained of inappropriate behavior and abuse by Bayers in the 1970s when they were young. In 1996 a man accused Bayers of masturbating and striking him repeatedly for years, beginning in about 1960 when boy was 11. The boy’s father died then and Bayers “practically lived” at his home and went drinking with his mother. Died in 3/79. No formal determination of guilt because he died prior to a canonical investigation.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
