In 9/2003 a man accused Boyer of raping him in 1961 at age 12, when he was an altar boy and helped at weekday mass. Boyer allegedly asked the boy to stay to talk, then raped him. He told his parents who asked him to keep the matter quiet. Per the man, Boyer shot and killed himself in about 1973. Per the 1974 Official Catholic Directory, Boyer was retired when he died 7/18/1973 at age 57.
Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
