Fr. Eugene C. Braun
Ordained for the Diocese of Reno in 1957. Assigned to ten parishes in seven years. Went on leave of absence in 1965. Reassigned in 1970, removed in 1974. Accused in 2005 of the sexual abuse of at least two or three teenage girls in the mid-1960s. One of the girls told her mother who alerted another priest. This priest promised that Braun would be “put in a mental hospital.” Instead, he left the priesthood “on his own” in about 1975. He denied all allegations. One of the women settled a claim prior to 8/2007. Included on the Reno diocese’s list 4/5/2019, which notes he was removed from ministry in 1974. On the Las Vegas diocese’s list 4/12/2019. Died 6/16/2025, at age 94. Per his obituary, Braun was retired from a career an admissions and guidance counselor at the College of Southern Nevada.
