Fr. Franklin Buckman

Accused of abuse between 1962 and 1981. Per L.A. archdiocese’s 2004 report there were three accusers. Named in a civil suit. Resigned in 1984 from parish in Orange diocese “because of the burden of administration.” Later revealed that he resigned because of abuse allegation. Transferred to the Diocese of Baker, OR. A woman in California alleged he abused her son in 1989. Removed from ministry at some point. Retired to Arizona in 2002. Settlement in 2005 in Orange for $1,959,700. Status as of 8/16 was “Life of Prayer and Penance.”
