Fr. Charles Jeffries Burton
Working in Richmond VA 6/07 when placed on leave after review of his personnel file revealed allegations of inappropriate touching of a minor in 1982, while director of youth ministry and the Boy Scouts for the Charlotte diocese. Diocese had been informed of allegations in 1994; Burton acknowledged the misconduct. Sent for therapy and reassigned to Camden diocese. Died 8/20/11. On Jesuit Maryland Province list 12/17/18. Added to Baltimore archdiocese’s list as of 2/19. On Richmond diocese’s list 2/13/19. On Charlotte diocese’s list 12/29/19.
