Fr. Francis J. Capellupo
Often held late-night parties in rectory for teenage boys. Bishop Daily was informed of this by at least two priests, but did nothing. Arrested in 2000 for allegedly sodomizing a 14-year-old boy, who was staying at rectory due to problems at home. Charges were soon dropped and case sealed, per spokesman for Brooklyn DA. A second man came forward claiming he was abused in the 1980s. Capellupo was removed from ministry in 2001. Diocese found allegations credible 6/05. Laicized 6/4/12. Died 3/17/17. On diocese’s list in 2/19.
