Fr. Joseph D. Casaclang
Named publicly as accused by the diocese in 10/19. Allegedly sexually abused a girl, ages 10-13, during 1979-82. The girl’s family attended St. Joseph’s Parish in King’s Park, where Casaclang was assigned. The abuse is said to have occurred during the priest’s visits to the family’s home. Casaclang left the parish after the diocese learned of the allegations, and was assigned to two more parishes. He is not indexed in the Official Catholic Directory after 2000. His accuser sued, and in 10/19 received a “low six-figures” settlement from the diocese. Included in 3/21 on the diocese’s list of accused.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
