Fr. Theophilus Clerx

Worked in San Antonio 1959-1992. The archdiocese revealed in 2019 that there were seven allegations, six of the in 2011, dating to the 1990s. In 2002 Clerx was accused of sexually abusing a child in the early 1960s. He admitted to the abuse. Died 12/17/03. In 1/11, four sisters filed suit against the San Antonio archdiocese, alleging that Clerx molested them; one said he raped her repeatedly 1988-1992. The girls were minors and he was assigned to St. John Berchman’s in San Antonio. Their mother worked for parish. Clerx gave the girls special privileges and visited them when mother was at work. One of the women reported the abuse to the Archdiocese in 2010. On archdiocese’s list 1/31/19.
