Chaplain at the all-girls Bishop Kearney High School in Bensonhurst for 17 years until placed on leave by the Diocese in 2002. One of 12 priests and one brother named in a 10/2002 lawsuit claiming sexual abuse. Accused of the sexual abuse of four boys while assigned during 1970-1984 to Our Lady Queen of Martyrs in Forest Hills, St. Margaret’s in Middle Village, and St. Michael’s in Flushing; Collins denied the allegations. Named as an abuser of one person in a suit filed in 10/2003 by 27 plaintiffs alleging abuse by 24 priests. Another man was to claim abuse but died by suicide just before suit was filed. Included on the Diocese’s list in 2/2019.
