Fr. Damian Lawrence Cooper
Ordained for the Archdiocese of Vancouver. A/K/A Lawrence Dean Cooper. Accused by a woman of abusing her as a minor in Canada in 1994; archdiocese of Vancouver ‘[did] not dispute’. She met Cooper at age 15 when he was chaplain at a retreat. At age 16 she received counseling from him at cathedral offices. A ‘sexual relationship’ 1985-92 started when she was 17. Cooper was removed and sent for treatment. May have been assigned in OR for a brief time in 1994-95. Worked 1995-2001 in Rockville Centre NY, which was ‘fully informed’ but ‘optimistic’; removed for similar behavior not involving a minor. Believed to be in the US as of 2012. Accuser from 1994 filed a civil suit in Canada in 12/12. Set for trial 9/14.
