Fr. Thomas T. Cooper
Accused in a 2005 lawsuit of sexually abusing a boy 1970-1971, when the boy was age 12-13. The suit claimed the abuse occurred at Cooper’s vacation house while he was assigned to St. Mary Magdalen parish in south St. Louis. Cooper retired in 1993 and died in 12/2003. A judge ruled in 3/2010 that the Church was not responsible because the contact took place away from church property. The MO court of appeals upheld the decision in 7/2011.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
