Corbin was put on sick leave 1962-1964 after one year at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Newton Grove, NC and its missions, in the Diocese of Raleigh. His remaining NC assignments were in the Charlotte diocese after it was formed. In 1970 he was placed on leave after allegations that he abused at Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School in Winston-Salem. He moved to MA, where he assisted at parishes in Fall River and Springfield, despite his status in NC. In 1986 the Charlotte Diocese notified Springfield of Corbin’s alleged abuse in NC. He was criminally charged in 1988 with sexually abusing a NC boy in 1966. The Charlotte diocese formally removed his faculties. He pleaded guilty in 1989 and was sentenced to three years in jail; served about 60 days. He was also given probation for five years and ordered to undergo treatment at St. Luke Institute. Corbin’s modus operandi was to dress young boys in loin cloths to depict the crucified Christ. Accused in a 12/2003 suit in Springfield, MA which settled in 8/2004. Corbin died in a fire 5/14/2008, at age 79. Included on the Raleigh diocese’s list in 10/2018.  Included on the Fall River, MA diocese’ list in 1/2021. On the Springfield MA diocese’s list 6/2/2021. Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
