Fr. Lawrence Cornelissen

“Doc.” From Germany. Died 7/7/65 in Germany. Per his obituary, Cornelissen arrived in the U.S. in 1898, graduated St. Francis Seraphic College in Cincinnati OH in 1900, then studied in Louisville KY and Oldenburg IN. Taught in Cincinnati. After ordination (no date) was administrator of a Madison IN parish. Traveled around OH for three years, pastor of three mission parishes. Moved to Kansas City MO, was parish pastor and hospital and “insane asylum” chaplain. On Marriage Tribunal. Next at Catholic U. in WDC for doctorate, professor and rector of the College of the Holy Land. To Buffalo in 1920. Assisted at several parishes, then administrator for six years at St. Mary’s in Batavia. Faculty member for 25 years at the Little Seminary, then assistant at St. Mary of Sorrows. Retired and returned in 1958 to Germany. Accused in a lawsuit(s) filed in 2020 under the NY Child Victims Act.
