Fr. John Corry
Diocese: Diocese of Rapid City SD
Retired in 1992. Admitted in 2002 to sexually abusing a boy, ages 10-14, in the 1960s. The bishop forced him to move from the monastery where he had lived for ten years because it housed a child day-care center. A second person made similar allegations. Laicized in 2004. Died 7/11/18. Included on the Rapid City diocese’s list in 3/19, which notes the diocese first received an allegation in 1970, and that the first reported abuse occurred in 1953, the last in 1979.
Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
