Fr. Scott Courtney
Placed on leave in 2018 after allegedly having sexual contact with an adult woman. The Diocese investigated and in 2021 determined that Courtney’s ministry was to be limited to nursing homes, prison ministry, and administrative assistance in the chancery. In 9/2025 the Diocese announced that Courtney was accused of having sexually abused a girl in 1993, when he was a seminarian. Courtney reportedly denied the allegation. His ministry was limited to providing spiritual support to retired priests. His accuser, who was age 12 at the time of the alleged abuse, received a $75K settlement in 2025. She had come forward to the Diocese in 8/2023.
