Fr. Gerard E. Creighton

Ordained: 1951

A 1973 memo to Cardinal Medeiros complained that Creighton had been transferred 17 times in 22 years and that the man was sick. In 1977 a woman told the archdiocese that she had seen two girls imitating oral sex and that they said they were imitating Creighton and their mother. Creighton retired in 1985. Creighton was placed on leave in 1997. A woman filed suit in 1998 claiming abuse by Creighton as a 17-year-old; dismissed in 5/03 due to the statute of limitations. Creighton died in 2004. His name was included in 8/11 on the Boston archdiocese’s list.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
