Fr. William Dinga
Diocese: Diocese of Richmond VA
Retired in 1990. Named publicly by the diocese in 6/20 as the subject of child sex abuse allegations, occurring in 1986 while assigned to Christ the King in Norfolk. His faculties were suspended sometime prior to the 2020 allegation. Dinga wrote in a bio in 2012 that he was on medical retirement and moved to ME in 2002, where he was invited in 2006 to help out at Richmond, ME parish, expanding in 2009 to 4-5 “worship sites.” He denied the allegations. In 12/20 the Richmond diocese announced that Dinga’s accuser had retracted their claim, and that Dinga was allowed to return to ministry.
Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
