Fr. Patrick Joseph Dinya

Extern priest from the Diocese of Dodoma in Tanzania living at St. Leo’s in St. Paul while attending the College of St. Thomas. He received a Master’s degree in Education in 1970. In a 1991 civil suit, a woman claimed Dinya sexually abused her during marital and emotional counseling in 1968. The suit also claimed he abused a mentally challenged teenage girl in 1968, and that the Diocese and Church were informed of that abuse and transferred him to another parish. Dinya apparently left the priesthood and went on to a long career in education. He died in 2010 in Minneapolis.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
