Monsignor. A woman claimed in a 2003 lawsuit that she was raped by Msgr. Eagen in 1972 after he befriended her at Nazareth House (an orphanage run by the diocese). Eagen was assigned as parish priest at a nearby mission. Later became Chancellor of San Diego diocese. Died in 1997. Diocese said he had exemplary record and no previous allegations of misconduct. The woman also alleged prior abuse at orphanage by a nun and a handyman as well as later abuse by Fr. Robert Buchanan. Personnel file released 10/25/10.
