Fr. Philip S. Feltman

Ordained: 1966
Status: Reinstated

Diocese: Diocese of Toledo OH

A woman complained in 2002 that Feltman abused her when she was age 9 in 1972 at St. Thomas Aquinas parish. Diocesan review board found accusations to be credible and Feldman was placed on leave in 1/2003. He denied all charges. A disciplinary panel was scheduled. The woman refused to appear before the local church inquiry board, so the matter was forwarded to the Vatican. In 7/2003 Feltman was returned to ministry after a Vatican council found that there wasn’t enough evidence to support the claims. He retired in 5/2009.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
