Fr. Charles Fischer, Jr.

Ordained: 1990
Status: Accused

Diocese: Diocese of Fargo ND

Admitted in 2/2002 to sexual misconduct with children. At the time he was being treated in a hospital for a “serious illness” of an unknown nature and had attempted suicide twice within four days. He named names of families. The bishop suspended his faculties and police investigated. By 5/2002 Fischer had recanted his confession. No victims came forward and the prosecutor said no charges would be filed. May have admitted to and recanted a similar story 10 years prior. Per the Diocese’s website in 3/2012 Fischer was a priest in residence at St. Mary’s Cathedral. The website in 2/2026 shows Fischer as retired and still in residence at the Cathedral.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
