Fr. John D. Fitzgerald
Monsignor. Pastor of Ascension Church in Oak Grove 1951-1973. A woman contacted the Archdiocese in 2005 to report that she was sexually abused by Fitzgerald in 1964 when she was a teenage parishioner. Fitzgerald died in 1984. No public information released about Fitzgerald’s abuse until the woman came forward at a 7/31/14 news conference after her mother, a diocesan employee, had passed away. The Archdiocese paid for her counseling.
