Fr. James A. Forsythe

Pleaded guilty in 12/1989 to having “sexual relations” with a teenage boy over a 2-year period. Sentenced to 1-5 years in jail; served 3-4 months, then released on probation. Sent to treatment in NM for 7 months. Forsythe’s victim received a settlement from the Archdiocese. On leave, per the 1990 Catholic Directory; reportedly left the priesthood that year. Became a minister for a protestant sect in SD until forced to resign in 2002 after the community learned of his past. Moved to FL. Hired in 2005 at an alternative Catholic church in Wilton Manors. Living in FL and Costa Rica as of 2009, per the FL Sex Offender Registry. Included on the Kansas City KS Archdiocese’s list 1/25/2019, which notes multiple allegations, and that Forsythe was laicized in 2005.
