Fr. Alfred W. Santagata
Named publicly as accused in the 3/4/2026 RI Attorney General’s Report, which notes allegations that Santagata sexually abused two children in the 1960s. In 3/1995 a woman reported that Santagata and the parish’s music minister sexually abused her for years as a child at St. Mary’s in Cranston. The woman said that the men would grope her and say explicit things to her. Another woman alleged in 3/2024 that Santagata sexually abused her at St. Mary’s when she was between ages 12 and 14 between 1961 and 1963. Santagata died in 1967.
