Fr. Jeffrey J. Finley
In 12/2020 Finley’s faculties were removed in the Diocese of Oakland after an allegation was reported in 9/2020 of “boundary violations” with a young adult male that occurred in 2000. Finley was assigned to St. Edward’s in Newark CA at the time in question. In 7/2026 a person alleged that when they were a 12-year-old altar boy and parish school student at St. Edward’s in 2000, Finley sexually abused them on multiple occasions. The alleged abuse included oral copulation. In 7/2026 the alleged victim’s attorneys filed a motion to allow a late filing of a proof of claim in the Diocese’s bankruptcy.
