Fr. Stephen Sramek
Ordained for the Order of St. Benedict in 1937. Parish priest, high school teacher. Per his obituary, Sramek was assigned in Cleveland OH; Fort William, Ontario, Canada; Chicago and East St. Louis, IL; Bad Axe, MI. He died in 1984. Named publicly as accused in the MI Attorney General’s 6/25/2026 Diocese of Saginaw Report, which shows that in 2012 the Benedictines and the Diocese of Saginaw received a report that Sramek sexually abused a boy four times 1978-1982, beginning when the boy was age 7. The abuse is said to have occurred at St. Joseph Parish in Rapson, MI and Mission Holy Trinity in Smiths Corner. Sramek’s accuser also reported the allegations to the Archdiocese of Detroit in 12/2020, and said that he had received financial support from the Benedictines in Cleveland, OH.
