Teacher/counselor at Maryville Academy for at-risk youth in Des Plaines. Charged in 1984 with the sexual abuse of a 13-year-old boy he met at Maryville. Victim said abuse was from 1982 to 1984 and included fondling and oral sex. At the time of indictment, Friese was on leave from the Chicago Archdiocese and working as a researcher at the University of IL- Chicago’s child care program. He was convicted in 1985, placed on probation for 4 years and sent to the House of Affirmation. Resigned from the priesthood in 8/1985. Laicized in 7/1987. Included in the 5/23/2023 IL Attorney General’s Report.
