Fr. Victor A. Frobas

Ordained for the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston. There were multiple complaints against Frobas throughout his ministry. In 1977 at least 6 children reported sexual abuse by Frobas in a West Virginia group home. He was sent to House of Affirmation in MA for treatment, after which he was  assigned to St. Rose of Lima parish in the Worcester, MA diocese 1978-1979. He reportedly sexually abused more than 12 children while assigned to St. Rose. He is also said to have participated in a sex ring. In 1988 Frobas pleaded guilty to sexually abusing two boys in the 1970s and 1980s in suburban St. Louis, MO, where he had been allowed to minister. He received a four-year sentence; served 25 months. Indicted on charges in MA. Died 7/11/1993, before trial. Sued once in MA and twice in WV beginning in 1993-1994. Included on the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston’s list in late 2018. On the St. Louis Archdiocese’s list 7/26/2019; noted to have been laicized. A lawsuit filed 5/15/2020 claims abuse of a boy for three years, beginning when the boy was age 10 in 1980 and attending St. Paul’s in Weirton, WV.
