Fr. Jean-Paul Gagnon
A psychological evaluation in 1977 prior to ordination indicated that Gagnon had possible “sex role identification” problems. Sued in 9/2002, accused of molesting a boy, ages 10-17, in the 1980s. The boy had disclosed to Gagnon during confession that a teacher, Raymond Tremblay, had sexually abused him, after which Gagnon began to also abuse the boy. In 7/2003 Gagnon took personal leave, then was placed on leave by the bishop. Named in a civil suit settled in 5/2004. Criminal charges were filed and Gagnon was arraigned in 2004 on charges of sexually assaulting an adult male parishioner in 10/2002, and assault and battery of another. Pleaded not guilty. Sentenced to 18 months supervised probation in 2005.
