Fr. Jesus Garcia Hernando
Monsignor. Ordained in Burgos, Spain. Incardinated 12/17/1983 into the Corpus Christi diocese. Accused of drugging and raping four boys and a man 1991-1994. The bishop was informed in 1993; no action. A civil suit was filed 2/20/1995. Criminally charged in 6/1995. Garcia Hernando fled to Spain (with permission of and help from the Diocese) before the criminal investigation was completed. Voluntarily returned to TX in 12/1996. Arrested. Criminal trial set for 7/1997; charges dismissed because the prosecutor could not substantiate the story and due to the statute of limitations. Excardinated from Corpus Christi on 2/11/2000. Removed from ministry 7/15/2011. Included on the Diocese’s list 1/31/2019. Garcia Hernando filed suit against the Diocese and bishop in 6/2019 claiming they made a “false” statement that he was “credibly accused.” He remained a priest in Spain.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
