Fr. Ruben Idalio Garcia
Garcia was a Boise diocesan priest working in Santa Fe NM in the mid-1970s. Accused in a 1994 lawsuit of sexually abusing a boy in while in NM, after treatment by the Paracletes in Jemez Springs. Settled. Also alleged to have abused in 1981 in ID. Included on the Santa Fe archdiocese list 9/12/2017. On San Bernardino diocese’s list 10/9/2018; worked 1986-1987 at a Chino parish. Per the San Bernardino diocese, it was aware in 1986 of allegations. Garcia left San Bernardino in 2/1987. Noted to be deceased, although the Santa Fe archdiocese’s list in 3/2019 shows him to be living. Incardinated into the Diocese of Tijuana, Mexico upon recommendation in 1990 from Bishop Tod Brown. On Santa Rosa diocese’s list 1/12/2019, assigned there beginning 11/1973. Per a 5/2019 proof of claim in the Santa Fe archdiocese’s bankruptcy, Garcia sexually abused a 14-year-old altar boy in summer 1973, plying the boy with alcohol, at a hotel in Old Town Albuquerque. A 6/2019 proof of claim details allegations that Garcia sexually abused a 13-year-old boy on multiple occasions in 1973, in the rectory of Our Lady of Guadalupe and at a hotel. The Boise diocese’s list in 10/2019 included Garcia with the the notation “imprisoned.”
