Fr. Louis J. Govoni
Files released in 1/03 show that Govoni was accused of abusing a male student at Archbishop Williams High in 1972-74. Cardinal Mederios was warned in 1977 that teenage boys frequently stayed in Govoni’s room and that one was seen partially undressed at 2:00 a.m. Absent “without permission” from ministry from 1978. Lawsuit filed in 8/02. Working in 2003 as a substitute teacher at Duxbury High. Fired immediately after news of allegations. Voluntary laicization in 2010 announced 2/11/11. Boston archdiocese list in 8/11 says case concluded canonically. Per the list in 8/22, Govoni died in 2020.
