Fr. Charles P. Granstrand

Ordained: 1966
Status: Accused

Diocese: Archdiocese of Newark NJ

In 9/10 Granstrand announced during services at Our Lady of Mercy that the Bergen County prosecutor’s office had investigated allegations against him of sexual abuse of young children, but that there would be no criminal charges. The father of one man in his 20s told reporters that Granstrand molested his son and another boy in 1996, and that his son spiraled into drugs and trouble. Granstrand denied the allegations. Per the Our Lady of Mercy website in 5/20, Granstrand was on staff as pastor emeritus.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
