Fr. Richard N. Grant
Accused in a suit filed in 4/09 of repeated sexual abuse of a high school boy in 1982-84, starting when the boy was 16. The principal of the school, James W. O’Neill (accused by another student), apparently knew about Grant’s abuse of the boy. Grant reportedly became a parish priest in FL in 1992 and died of AIDS in 1993. Name released as part of Oblate $24.8M settlement with 40 individuals in 8/11. Assigned at one time to Salesianum School.
Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
