Fr. Gerald Grieman

Retired at age 53 in 1999. Relocated to Phoenix AZ. In 2006 a man told the Archdiocese that he was sexually abused at age 12 by Grieman in the early 1990s. Grieman was assigned at the time of the alleged abuse to St. John the Baptist in New Brighton. The man refused to release his psychological records and the Archdiocese found the claim wasn’t credible. The Archdiocese reported the allegations to police; no investigation. The man reported to police himself in 2013. In 2010 Grieman sought to work in the Diocese of San Diego for the summer. The Archdiocese sent a letter of good standing to San Diego, mentioning the allegations. Grieman’s name was not on lists of accused released by the Archdiocese 12/2/2013 and 1/17/2014.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
