Deacon Carlos Guzman

Guzman was a deacon preparing for ordination to the priesthood in 10/20/1981 when he was suspended after an allegation that he touched and kissed an 8-year-old boy. He was convicted in 1993 and served 8 months of a 9 month sentence. Accused in a 2004 civil lawsuit of sexually abusing at least two boys in the 1970s-early 1980s. One plaintiff said he told a priest in 1996 that Guzman raped him in 1978, and the priest responded, “Don’t worry….they moved him somewhere else.” Guzman’s name was included 2/13/2019 on the Diocese’s list of credibly accused.
