Caught in “compromising position” in 1981 in a graveyard at night with 13-year-old boy in Sacramento. Sent to Reno under Bishop McFarland, who sent him to Orange in 1984. (McFarland became bishop of the Diocese of Orange in 1986.) Placed on leave in 2002. Two separate suits filed 2002. Also worked in the Oakland diocese. Claims included in 2005 $35M settlement to 33 victims. Order’s insurance company did not want to pay $1.5M to reimburse Diocese for settlement. Status per Orange diocese in 8/16 was “Life of Prayer and Penance”. On Sacramento diocese’s list 4/30/19. It notes two reports received in 2003 of abuse of boys under age 14, occurring 1978-81. Included on the Dominicans Holy Name Province list in 10/21.
