One claim was included in a 10/02 $950K settlement involving 16 men who alleged that 8 different priests, including Joyal, abused them as minors. At least one claim was included in both the 11/02 $5M settlement claiming abuse by 28 priests and the 12/02 $542.5K settlement claiming abuse by 5 priests. Joyal died in 1998, prior to all settlements.
