Fr. Albert J. Julian

Ordained: 1958
Status: Accused

Died: 06/22/2006
Diocese: Archdiocese of Baltimore MD

Named publicly as accused in the 4/5/2023 MD Attorney General’s Report. Report to the Archdiocese in 1968 that Julian had sexually abused a girl, by then in college. Admitted to the abuse. Sent to treatment. Requested and granted laicization in 1970 so he could marry. In 2002 a woman reported to the Archdiocese that she was abused by Julian in the early 1960s, beginning when she was in 8th or 9th grade and throughout her high school years. She said a girl a year behind her in school was also abused; it was that girl’s father who had contacted the diocese in 1968. Julian died in 2006.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
