Named in a lawsuit filed 11/27/2019 by a 53-year-old who claimed Kavanaugh sexually abused him over three years, beginning when he was age 7 and Kavanaugh was assigned to St. Finn Barr. The boy allegedly told two nuns and his teacher of the abuse at the time, but there was no action. His accuser said he reported the abuse to the archdiocese in 2004, but it was not reported to police and Kavanaugh was kept in ministry. He died 6/28/2013.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
