Fr. James G. Kelly
Monsignor. Accused in two lawsuits filed in 6/21 under the NY Child Victims Act. Placed on leave 6/30/21. One of the complaints alleged that Kelly sexually abused a child 2005-07, while assigned to St. Margaret’s in North Buffalo. The other alleged abuse of a boy, ages 8-10, during 1980-82. Kelly denied the allegations. In 10/21 he was reinstated after the diocese’s review board determined that the allegations against him were unsubstantiated.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
