Fr. John P. Kelly
Accused in a 1994 RICO lawsuit of abuse of six youths in the 1970s and 1980s. One claimant settled for $25K and three others were part of a 3/2003 settlement. Removed from ministry in 1992 and died the same year. Another civil suit filed in 3/2005 alleged molestation by Kelly and two other priests. Spent time in Brazil at some point. On diocese’s list 2/13/2019. Sued in 12/2019, accused along with Revs. Jay Shannon and John Bernard of abuse in 1974 of a boy, age 12.
