Fr. Edward J. Kubiak
Ordained for the Diocese of Grand Rapids. Assigned 1938-1946 to the Diocese of Superior WI. Named publicly as accused in the 12/15/2025 MI Attorney General’s Diocese of Grand Rapids Report. In 1998 a woman told the Diocese that Kubiak and another priest “did stuff” to her son when he was a child 35 years prior, at Guardian Angels in Manistee MI. Kubiak was pastor. The alleged victim told the Diocese in 1999 that he was sexually abused at the church 1965-1967, when he was ages 10-12. He said that Kubiak abused him about twice a week, and that he would be made to sit in a chair, blindfolded, his wrists tied. He said the other priest would observe and that one time his blindfold slipped and he saw the priest touching his genitals. Kubiak denied the abused and said that “several problem priests… had been assigned there.” The Diocese investigated and decided to take no further action. Kubiak’s accuser had reported the allegations to law enforcement 8-10 years prior who determined the allegations to be “unfounded,” reasons unclear.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
