Fr. Shaun D. Lowery
Diocese: Diocese of Lansing MI
Pastor of St. Mary Magdalen in Brighton Township when placed on leave in 3/21 pending an investigation by the MI Attorney General. The diocese did not disclose the reason for the investigation and suspension. It did state that anyone suspecting abuse of a person of any age should contact Child Protective Services or police. In 5/21 the diocese announced that the A.G. decided not to file charges; the A.G.’s office stated “no criminal charges is not equivalent to exoneration.” The diocese was then to begin a canonical investigation.
Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
