Placed on leave in 6/02 after two men filed suits alleging he abused them as altar boys during the 1970s and early 1980s. One man’s mother said she complained at the time to a priest who told Bishop D’Arcy. Arrested in 9/02 and charged with abuse of a boy, age 8-10, between 1987 and 1989. Acquitted by jury in 2005. No information on resolution of civil suits. Still on administrative leave and canonical proceedings still in process as of 10/15, per Boston AD database. In 9/20 the archdiocese announced that Lyons had been “dismissed from the clerical state” by the Vatican.
